My Spot Play Desktop has just started to act up.
When I click onto a SpotPlay, the number will appear in the small window but the specs window to the right remains static.
I erased all my Spot Plays and started over. I have three. Click on sp1 the number appears in the little window and the specs are shown to the right.
Click on sp2 the number appears in the little window but the specs are not shown to the right. sp1 specs remain.
If I use Learn More the correct Spot Play will appear in the print out
The spot plays are in the C:\HTR file as HSP files.
I reinstalled Robot2

Are you hitting the Green Pull this Play button after clicking on your spot play number?

Yes, that's what I don't understand

The green PullThisPlay button is not working.

I have not heard that one before.
The first thing I would try is another directory.
Create another directory or if you have races in another directory, use the Change Folder button to go to another folder and make a few spot plays there and see if the Green button works there.
If you have to create a new folder, download some races to that folder so you have something to work with.
I have copied spot plays to other folders and never experienced any problems like you are having.

Rick, I moved about 10 files to a new folder and created some new sp's. It seems to work.
Does this mean that I have to move all the files I'v downloaded since Mar to a new folder?

Wait for km to jump into this.

I save all my files in C:\HTR
I created a new file C:\HTR2009
If I copy the spot plays and some datafiles to HTR2009 the green Pull This Play button does not work in either case.
So now I'm in a state of LIMBO

That is what I would expect.
Try deleteing all the spot plays. Go into using WIndows Explorer and delete all the 001.HSP files you have 001 through what ever.
Add new plays manually. Create from scratch.
Maybe one of the HSP files got corrupt. Just a wild guess but that is what you are clicking on and what is not working.
Your race files should be good.
If you can create new spot play that work in your new directory, then you can go back and delete the spot play in C:\htr and either copy the spot plays in from your new directory or create new ones.

Rick, It just occured to me that this problem started when trainers were used in spot plays.
RaceFilter=MSW
Connections:Trainer
Save as SpotPlay
I save 4 or 5 trainers and the green Pull This Play button won't work.

I haven't heard any other reports on this. I'll check out the Trainer filter tonight and respond later.
The spot plays are saved to the default work folder and have to be extracted from the same. So if you change folders while working with Robot2, after saving some spot plays, they won't work in the new folder. But the Spot Play list should reset once the folder change is made. Perhaps this was the confusion, i'll check on that as well, a bug is possible if the list is not resetting after a folder change.

I could find no bug on my end after trying out various scenarios.
First i saved a bunch of random spot plays with Trainers , Jockeys and both. They all seemed to save and retreive after exiting and all showed up on the specs list to the right. I left the program and returned, and they were there again.
If I change folders while working with those above, the entire screen including the Spot Play Desktop gets reset. Although I have spot plays in the new folder with the same numbers: Spot#1, 2, etc, it was obvious i was working in a new location and they wouldn't be the same spot plays.
So 'halfthumb' , I'm at a loss to your situation ???

KM and Rick,
Up to this point I haven't had any problems with the SpotPlay window. It is only when I attempted to use trainers as spot plays that strange things happen.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the software.
Created 4 spot plays w/o trainers. No problem
Spot Play 5 and 6 are trainer spot plays i.e.
RaceFilters:MSW
Connections: Trainer
Save as Spot Play
Sequence of clicking "Pull this Play": 1 2 3 4 no problem
: Click 5--nothing happens
: Click 6--nothing happens
: Click 4--spot play appears
: Click 5--trainer spot play appears
: Click 6--nothing happens
: Click 4--spot play appears
: Click 6--nothing happens
I have to click 4 and then 6 a number of times for SpotPlay 6 to appear
In other words sometimes the trainer spot plays appear--sometime they don;'t. It's helter skelter.

It's like clicking a button on a form--If there is no Click() Event it won't work.

After a lot of trial and error --Have to click a non trainer spot play first, then click the trainer spot play and it will appear. ??????

I have had the same trouble when using Trainers when the difference between spot plays are but 1 factor but the same trainer. My work around was to add a spot that reset to no trainers and then click the wanted spot play. Have not had any other trouble with the spot plays not resetting.

Just wanted to keep this thread alive; I’ve had the same issues on trn / jky plays that display a different name etc depending on the sequence their accessed. I imagine the connections module has really given Ken some sleepless nights.

Can't pinpoint why it's happening yet. Must not be resetting correctly. But it only happens once in awhile which makes it a head scratcher.

I've experienced the same problem with Jockies. What I've noticed is that when I pull the play the specs may come up wrong but when I run a report the spec is correct.

Aha Bill, maybe i was looking in the wrong place - perhaps it is the labeling on the specs or lack of it that is the problem and confusion.
I think you may have got it - thank you!
Will report back when it is fixed and send up to Rick for immediate upgrade.l

I'm not 100% sure this would be considered a bug but it might be a source of confusion on occasion.
If you highlight a spotplay file name; for example, 005.hsp, and click on the green "Show the Specs" button, the specs appear in the right hand window along with the 005 spotplay number.
After running Learn All, for example, the stats appear followed by the spot play number and the specs as part of the Learn All report.
However, if you inadvertently highlight a different spotplay file; for example, 001.hsp, but do not click on on the green button; i.e., leaving 005's specs in the right hand box, the Learn All report will be based on the 005 specs (the stats and the specs will be related to 005) but be labelled as spot play 001. Pretty minor but could cause a confusion looking back over plays saved weeks or more ago.

thanks edw
i agree that may be part of the confusion here
when we click on "005" for instance, we expect to instantly see the specs for play #5 even though the info for play #4 might still be showing in the black box
the reason for the "Show Specs for This Play" button is that it takes a few seconds to load the data and the app might crash if quickly scrolling through all the spot plays from that list
i'll see what i can do to make the process more user friendly and seameless

-My trainer spot plays seem mixed up. I tried a "learn all" report but got the stats for a different trainer in an adjacent spot play. Sometimes a spot play seems to disappear, I look for the specs on one play and a different play appears in the black screen. There does seem to be a bug. I know you are on to it Ken, just more feedback, thanks. Jack.

KM, I'm still having problems with trainers and jockeys when creating spot plays. For example MSW/BEL/Tagg Barclay. Click spot play--spot play created--No trainer in print specs window??

Are you sure you have the latest version that we put up last week.
Should display Sept 12
I found the bug in the previous version and fixed it, i would be surprised if it is not longer saving the Trainer names. But I'll go check it right now as we speak....
BEL
Msw
Tagg Barclay
"SAVE as Spot Play" #44
Now I'll clear everything, bring up #44, yup there he is. Now I'll run the Last 100 and should see only Tagg on there......
yes it's correct, all Msw and Tagg at BEL (far less than 100 of them though)
check that version date Thumb, and try it again, let me know. Maybe you were retrieving a play created in the error version?
