I am using a spot play and when I request not ml favorite it is leaving in the 1A

No error Bill, but it can be a tricky rating.

As mentioned elsewhere in some of our docs and online stuff, the FAV1 and FAV2 were separated from ties by finding the stronger of the two. This includes coupled entries.

By separating the two horses, we get just one per race for testing. That's good and it helps the decision process if one of the two is scratched as it may convert the grade from "A" to "F" if the stronger half of the entry scratches.

On the negative side, it can be confusing a bit. But at least the test results are for a single horse per race. In this case you had a coupled entry that were the ML FAVs together. HTR determined that #1, not #1A was the true favorite and the reason for the low ML.

If #1 scratches, it does leave a quandry for a spot play using the NOT because you are stuck betting on both anyway. But i don't know how to resolve that except that you could set the ML in the Range filters to 3/1 or higher and avoid them most likely.
