View Full Version : MaxVel Fix

We have posted a new version of MaxVel (March 1, 2009) due to a problem that was found with the PAC rating and Artificial tracks. I had failed to update the MaxVel energy pars for the synthetic tracks, SA, GG, KEE, AP, etc.

HTR2 had the correct adjustments, but Maxvel was still using the Dirt energy pars for these tracks. This rarely affected the relative rank of the PAC rating, but the figures were a few points off. All other surfaces and tracks are fine and there was no effect on the PER or velocity ratings.

thanks to Gary Triplett for reporting the discrepency which he found by comparing HTR2 PAC ratings at SA with those in MaxVel and realized they were diffferent.

You can download the new version now from the Subscriber Zone, or use the Full Install to get it.

Jack,

If you used the new installer in Jan to get the latest versions of HTR2 and MaxVel in Jan, then use the new installer as an updater.

That is what I am trying to do with the new full install. I went that way so people can use it both as a full install and as a way to add the latest version of HTR2 and/or MaxVel when they are updated.

If you haven't used the new installer yet you should uninstall HTR2 using the Control Panel, and then use the new full installer. Then in the future you can use the new full installer to upgrade either HTR2 or MaxVel.

When I try to install the update from March 1 . I get the following message

"An error occurred while trying to copy a file c:\windows\system32\CSFTXCTL.OCX
Click Retry to try again, Ignore to proceed anyway or Abort to cancel installation"

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Spike

What I would do is hit Ignore and see if everything works.

If that doesn't work uninstall and try installing the latest version again.

WinXP or Vista?

I will test it on my end. I did the upgrade using the full install that includes Robot2. I'll go back and try it with the HTR2MaxVel full install.

Thanks

I also got that message. When I looked at my desktop I noticed I had the program opened and minimized. When I closed HTR it installed just fine.

Best,
Ken

For the moment the trick is to hit Ignore.

I have just modifed all of the new full install packages and will be uploading after I finish this post.

The small change I made, from Overwrite if Newer to Skip, appears to clear this problem up.

Blue,

That may be why I was getting the error also. :)

I have tried downloading the new htr2 and and installed it. When I click on the binoculars on the desktop it says I do not have appropriate license to use this functionality.
I have uninstalled an re installed a couple of times and this keeps happening. Any ideas?

I almost always have some ideas. :)

Uninstall and try this version:

http://htr.horsedata.com/HTR_Protected/dnl/HTR2MaxvelRobot2Setup.exe

I have to do some testing on the HTR2MaxVelSetup version.

But it does sound like you have an old version of HTR2 installed.

jb,

I am running Vista x64.

In my testing I am finding that Resize32.ocx plus the other required files are being installed in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 instead of c:\Windows\System32

The file Resize32.ocx is dated 28 Jul 08. That is the latest version.

It sounds like you have a copy of the old Resize32.ocx on your computer.

Check in c:\Windows\System32 and see if you can find a copy that has an old date of 10 Apr 02.

If so, delete it and try installing HTR2 again.

Let me know if you have a problem. You may also have to change some settings to be able to see the files.

I was going to suggest the same thing - Delete all instances of RESIZE32.OCX from the computer first and re-boot. Then run the iNstaller.

This problem was reported often last September, but the re-installation solved it for everyone with an old version unless they have multiple instances of RESIZE on the computer or in different drive letters, or mulitple folders. In those cases, they needed to run the Uninstall on HTR2 (and now MaxVeL & Robot II) to eliminate everything and then search for leftover instances of RESIZE32 and delete them all before re-booting and re-installing.

It is critical to reboot the computer often during this process.

Thanks everyone. I was helping another member and fixed his problem. He had a 10 yr old computer.

He now has a new computer and everything works fine :D
