Rick will be posting a Jan 20 Robot2 update on Tuesday (Jan 20); highlights in the new update =
LEARNX
Current Race
I rushed the Current Race a bit to get it ready for our NHC players ==>
The Current Race button is found at the top left, select a race first, then choose current race. It goes a little goofy the first time - but works ok on subsequent races. If you click "Current Race" with the default race showing (without actually choosing a race) it goes goofy too! So go ahead and select a race before you click it. Current race than automatically selects the Track, Dist, Surf, and various Class attributes for the specific race.
LearnX should give you vital information as it finds various strong and weak categories from the LEARN ALL screen
I also fixed various bugs, quirks and errors and added some help buttons here and there as the program evolves slowly. Let me know if something still doesn't work.
Leave comments and feedback here - i closed the other 'comments' thread as it was getting long

You da man Ken,
Well, actually, we all know who the man is on this 20th day of January and we will all remember where we were at about noon today. A great day for celebration. I'll be in a friendly little gym on the campus at UVA, watching the occasion along with 12,000 or so close friends. Can't wait.
But, still, you are really a champ to put all of this together and provide such incredible customer support Ken. Thanks a bunch.

I downloaded robot to c/htr.
Then put a shortcut to my desktop.
If i download files for htr2 using htr2 to download the files they also go into the robot. I believe this is normal.
If i try and download files using the robot download i get Run Time Error 381--Invalid property array indexes. Is this correct or is something wrong?
Thanks

I have not tried the Robot2 downloaded. I still use the FileRat.
Robot2 will work with which ever set of files in whichever directory you point it at.
If all the files you want to run it on are in c:\htr, run it there.
If you decide to put the files you want to run Robot2 in a different directory, just click the Change Folder button and change it to the directory those races are in.
I find it impossible to do everything I want to do using only one directory.
I use C:\htr for daily handicapping and delete the old files before downloading the next days races.
I have C:\htr\2009\12 Jan 09 directory to accumulate all the race files, results and charts, and traineer stats for the month where I do my monthly exports to Access for the longshots chart and my annual database.
I have C:\htr\SpotPlay1 where I keep a years worth of files for Robot2. I update it at the end of the month.
That works for me but will not work for everyone.
You have to decide what works for you and adjust as you go when you want to modify the way you do things.

I entered 5 spot plays.
Then i downloaded several racetracks. No results.
Then i hit get my plays.
By doings this i thought it would give me all the races that my spot plays were in today.
Now i could go see if i wanted to play them.
Is it suppost to do what i think or is my assumption wrong?
Thanks

You should be able to click on Spot Play Desktop and then select one of the three buttons:
Get All My Plays - Sort by Post-Time
Get All My Plays - Sort by Track
Get All My Plays - Sort by Play #

I get those.
What im trying to do is find horses that have my spot play characteristics before the race is run.
Should i be able to do this?
Thanks for taking you time and helping me.

Maybe there were no plays matching your criteria for the day. Make up a spot play that will definitely have plays and Save it. Such as Fr1=1 only.
Now try running Get All My Plays and you should get something. If so, it just means your other spot plays had no matches.

Ken,
I using 1/20 Pen9 for an example. After clicking setup current race everything appears good and I can run Learn X and get results. In the window to the right, everything looks OK also, but when you click get this play the only races that come up are Pen3 and Pen7, not Pen9. Any ideas?

Yeah, there is something goofy going on with it F4N, it does seem to set it up correctly, but then it won't pull up the plays for today for the exact match to the race setup. Thanks for the heads up, i'll figure it out

Resolved the problem on duplicates.
With the first time in mcl can we gwt rid of the fts that come up when it is run?
km
22nd January 2009, 10:21.39 PM
good point Posh, the FTS issue comes up with several "firsts" and they don't belong. I think i got rid of it with L1 and bo, but need to search all the possible factors that should exclude FTS.
thanks for the reminder - i'll get that fixed

Ken,
Love the new robot2.
Question: When I use the Setup Current Race button everything matches the race conditions
except, if its a race for males it shows females, and the opposite is true for females
it shows males.

Ken - a follow up to that. I noticed the same thing but I also noticed that when you click on "current race" for AQU the selection is made for both "Fast Dirt" and "Inner Dirt". Is that correct? I would think you would not want "Fast Dirt" to be selected or you would get races that are held on the main oval at AQU.

KM, I hought i did (run the current race) but now when I go back to do it again I get different results. although I now have the results added so maybe that is making a difference, I will delete the race and redo.
Okay redid the race before reults added and get the same info as before.

Thank You,

Ken, would it be possible to put some more space between the "show specs button" and the "delete button". No hurry , I have only erased two spot plays inadvertently so far. No problem ,was easily fixed, but a real time waster. Thanks. (Butter Fingers) Jack.

I would think this first one has been mentioned:
I click on the Spot Play Desktop, select and pull spot play #5, and click on Get This Play.
It looks like they are sorted maybe by race instead of post time.
I have another spot play that shows it is not profitable under Turn Sprint.
In Access I can easily remove them but not so in Robot2.

Rick, i'll see what i can do to add more general dist.surf categories into the filters for removal from the plays list.
I'm still struggling with some logic bugs and other minor issues, will have another update asap, will work on it today. Sorry i'm not ready for Monday update as promised, still getting goofy stuff.

In the Robot II, Feb 8, CT Race 1. If you set up current race then run Learn X and then click Handicap or View race, it comes up to race 9 not race 1. Also sometimes it sets Race 1 parameters to 8.5f or 6.5f. I can't figure out what is making it switch.

Good catch F4N, thank you
Definite quirk there, in fact, it goes to CT race-9 for the earliest date you have in the folder (not Feb8). In my case, it reset to Sept 18 9th race.
That's because it is testing all CT races in the current folder, leaves the final race tested in memory, then not re-setting to the current race.
I'll fix that problem by having it reset to the current race shown. For now, re-click it to the Date and Track you want to look at after running a test so you'll get the correct current race.

Ken,
Would you consider breaking the sprint distances like this:
2.0 to 4.0
4.5 to 5.0
This would allow the 2.0 distances not to be ran.

To add new distance categories would require an entire overhaul of the Race Filter section. Those are part of the orginal code modules and i don't want to re-tool it right now - sorry guys, thanks for checking.

This has probably been answered already, I just can't find it.
At the bottom of the spot play reports it looks like this:
Plays: 17 Bets: 13 Wins= 3 ITM= 3 ROI= 1.06
Why are the Plays different from the bets?
km
13th February 2009, 04:21.22 PM
If you don't have all the results in yet the "Plays" and "Bets" will be different
the "Plays" just tallies the total output, both results and non-results horses
While the "Bets" are those horses with results confirmed that are tallied for the ROI, etc.

This is for yesterday. I have already downloaded yesterday's results.

Bean -
Some tracks yesterday were cancelled (AQU), are you sure you have the ** by the entire list of tracks from yesterday? Did you look and see in the program screen that all the races have results and payoffs? Could be partial cancellation at some. Try running the same spotplay through the HTR2 Robot and see what happens.
It just tallies based on the results available. But if you are sure that 100% of the tracks have results from yesterday and it is still not catching them all, then maybe there is a bug.
I ran mine and got a similar result, then deleted AQU and it matched.
fred4now
13th February 2009, 05:14.45 PM
I think that is it. There were 2 plays at CT and I think it was cancelled. So the plays are all the possible plays and the bets are only if results are present. That works, I should just be looking at the Bets then.
