Trying to append one week from database "A" to database "B" containing three months of records. Access won't accept the command in query design view to show the fields from database "B" below the database "A" fields. Any suggestions please?

Well now it did! Don't really know what I did. Will see what happens next week. Played the FTS in the second race at Aqueduct on Saturday as my contest pick in the Showdown. I was eliminated from the game.

When you click on the append query icon in the drop down query type menu a pop up window appears where you select the table to append the records to. Once you select a table the matching fields names appear under the field names in your query.
If no field names a appear then perhps you did not specify a table in the pop up window or specifed a table with no matching fields.

MikeDee,
That's the strange part. I did this over and over again, and it finally worked. I did say that I am appending ALL_MSA from one database to another and so on. The only thing I may have done differently is the way I opened the database "A" in the first place. It worked after what I would call a formal opening instead of the shortcut opening. Not sure if this had anything to do with it. I am using tools that Rick sent me (JohnLacy.mlb) to merge the normal ALL_MSA table renamed to ALL_MSAold and ALL_IMPC table to form a new single ALL_MSA table. This new ALL_MSA is very very fast to query, about ten times as fast as the joined tables were.
Thank you for your help,
Victor

Victor,
Send me an email ricks@homebased2.com
I did an append last week and had to make a few changes. When importing into the ALL_MSAold I had changed one of the field names because it had the same field name as was in ALL_IMPC.
It was something like rTNR being changed to rTNR_M. Because of that change a change had to be made in the Import Specification file changing the field name to that and saving.
I don't remember if that was all or not. Try a simple import like one track and see what kind of errors you get. I can send you another copy of my template if you like.
I am like a junior firefighter; I just take care of the problems as they come up.

Tough break in the shootout Vic. Looks like you hung in there pretty long though. Better luck next time.
