Thanks Mark, i'm sure it will be the same for the HWS, there are no other major tracks running on those dates. The Orleans has used TUP in the past though. Last year at the NHC, i recall that AQU cancelled one of the days for weather - and no one cared!

Appreciate that list Cliff, be interesting to see if either tournament uses TUP this year. The NHC even included TUP as a mandatory race in some years, but that was because TUP had a big qualfier every year - no more.

Would expect the World Series to include LRL as always, they never seem to give up on it.

Tampa may be an alternate for the NHC again in case AQU cancels.

And then there is Santa Anita......

The Orleans Contest Line (1-888-566-7223) couldn't or wouldn't give a running count. Debbie and Linda, the coordinators I guess, weren't available.

The woman I spoke to was confident that the tracks were AQU, LRL, GP, SA, GG, OP, FG (and TAM (per the previous post).Entry purchases can be made and paid, credit card, by phone until noon of the 23rd, at least, though she said the 24th.

According to Ron Charles of SA in a radio interview today, they're in the process of searching the country trying to locate 20k tons of sandy loam dirt to install a dirt track if what he said were "encouraging" tests related to a fix of the current surface don't pan out. If they go back to dirt, the estimates are that it will take 7-10 days to complete the job, and one possibility under consideration is continuing at SA with all turf races while the work takes place. Charles wouldn't comment on the possibility that all of the Sunshine Millions races will take place at GP, although he acknowledged that a decision on what they're going to do has to made soon. The bottom line is that at this point it's impossible to tell whether any races or what kinds of races from SA will be part of the WS or NHC.

Charles once again claimed that it was a change the supplier made in the composition of the product which caused the problem and once again complained that the supplier didn't support its product. However, from what I understand, in an apparent effort to save a few bucks, SA decided to do the installation itself. That would cetainly explain why the supplier, who I'm guessing is taking the position that problems with installation caused the problem, has refused to remedy the problem. No surprise, to me at least, that this part of the controversy has not, to the best of my knowledge, ever been mentioned by any of the "journalists" who are covering and commenting on the story.
