Rick will post the MaxVel upgrade by Thursday night (11/08). Update information is in the Nov/Dec 2008 newsletter that subscribers can get at the same time.
I did not utilize our beta testers this time, so this Nov 8 version is not final. I'll fix any problems or bugs and post another version if necessary. Please post anything you find in this thread and i'll get right on it.
As far as the "suggestion box" - as you'll see, i included several items that were requested. Had to reject many others even though they were excellent ideas, but the mechanics of the program were too complex to re-program. I'll keep everything on the back burner as there will be future upgrades periodically. Thanks very much for contributing.
There is a lot of neat new stuff in this MaxVel version, i'll think you'll like the additions.

Hi KM,
I noticed something on the new Maxvel. It appears as though the default is Raw eventhough the green highlight shows Adjust. If you click Adjust, the numbers change to the adjusted. I noticed this because I was comparing the old vs. new.
I really like the V4 screen and appreciate the modeler button for the current race.
Thanks!

Nice catch 'Pat, thank you.
It was not initializing the Adjust/Raw at startup and will default to the Raw until the user clicks the button for ADJUST
This is a really BAD BUG - i have sent a Nov 10 version to Ricks right away. He'll post a message when it is ready for download.
Appreciate the heads up.

Ken, up til now I use Access to create my own profiles and models, so for the first
time I'm looking at Maxvel. It is really interesting.
I am looking at the 3d race of CD on Nov 8. A low ranked closer won at 6f. I ran the
modeler of that race which didn't show much except how good K was. However when
I ran the model for dist surf class type the K dropped way down and .....wow, the
closer came up on top.
So, why the big difference? Is that expected? Have you made a study of the differences?

Thanks for the feedback 'Cat!
The second Model option (dist/surf/+class) can make a big difference because it separates by the four class types. The only problem is sample size.
The first option (dist/surf) does not separate the class types and only pulls the exact distance and surface matches. This mixes maidens and non-maidens, cheap claimers and stakes races, etc. But you usually get a good sample count.
I would go by this rule of thumb: use the second option (dist/surf/class) and see if you can get at least 10 sample races. If you do, that's your model and it will be a good one. But often you won't get 10 matches, in that case run the first option to increase the sample size.
I like to run the model as Tomcat described and look for factors that hit 100% or close to it in the top 3 or 4. The other day i was trying to figure out one of those impossible looking maiden claimers at Churchill with 14 horses. I ran the modeler and got 100% for top4 jockey. Wow - that made it easy, instantly narrowed the race down to four contenders (1-2-3-4 ranked JKY) and sure enough the JKY=1 won the race at 5/1 and i stayed alive in my p4.
It can be very useful that way as Tom mentions.
