Sporadically in the trainer stats I come across "L3 Poor". I haven't stumbled on any L1 or L2 yet and I haven't found L3 with any other comment (though they may well be there I suppose).

LR (last race) has several variations (won, 2nd, poor).

Lasix is described as 1st Lasix, etc.

The DSLR series shows up as LO 1-10, etc.

The layoff returns are designated by 1 after LO, etc.

I've looked in the July/Aug 2007 newsletter and the hx9.pdf file and L3 is not mentioned.

I know I'm going to be embarrassed at how simple the answer is but I just can't seem to figure this out. Will someone please put me out of my misery?

I thought this was in the August newsletter, maybe i missed it, Ron and I did tweak this one a bit from its orginal

"poor" effort (trainer text file only) is when the horse finishes 10 or more lengths back and no better than 5th place in its last start

L3 is the last three starts having poor races

The idea here was to spot trainers that tend to quickly turn around a bad horse, so it might best be combined with claims and trainer changes

Thanks for the prompt reply and the great update, Ken.

I did do a search for "L3" in acrobat for the July/Aug issue and all that found was L365.

Wishing you and the rest of the HTR contingent much success at the tourney.
