I'm working on a MaxVel upgrade for the Fall

If you have found bugs, quirks, frustrating things or have any suggestions for improvement, please feel free to leave them here.

I won't reply on this thread, but i will review and consider everything posted. Many suggestions are not feasible of course, but your feedback is appreciated to improve the software and i hope the update will be useful and time saving.

No need to tell me about the PL modes, i have that covered

MaxVEL PL6 and 7 will recoded to match the exact same ones used in HTR2
MAXVEL PL8, 9 will then be converted from current Maxvel PL6,7
MAXVEL PL9 = HTR2 PL7 for the most part, so there iis no need add PL10!

Velocity Handicapping is making a nice com

KM,
I would like the selected track/race on the modeler page scroll list default to the track/race that one is viewing on the main screen rather than the first race/track on the scroll list.

I would like the v3 screen to have the "other" fields from the HTR screen in HTR2 added to it.
I realize that is not the purpose of the maxvel v3 htr-like screen, but please?

If the Q points could be sorted on as well, that would be great.

I would have one screen then.
The interplay between those ranks on the HTR screen now is really eerie sometimes as to what it highlights.
Of course, that may be my "bad" or "free" thoughts running amuck.

If the HTR screen additions could be done but would require a special $ version and/or some existing fields needed to be dropped , I would be willing to go for that as well.

thank you

I would really love to see each selected paceline shown by itself - say 4 lines for one horse, all lines shown by themsleves, not averages. That was a major part of my use of the old MPH program - looking for those abberant pacelines, and it was a good tool. I would find a horse that was likely to be the speed hosre, and then throw out lines by others to see who could catch him. Also, looking at a list of say 12 lines, 3 for each of 4 horses, you might see that one horse ranked 1,3 and 4 in LP - consistently one of the better closers.

I spend more and more time in maxvel---what I would like pertains to us handicappers who handicap "on the fly". We'd all like to be fully prepared of all upcoming tracks and races, but there simply isn't enough time in my day to do so, even when I start at 8:00 the night before. What I would like to see spins off on ggpagels suggestion. My computer Knows what time it is, and Maxvel already knows the post time of each race, so I would like Maxvel to automatically take me to the next available race for whatever track button I push from the top of Maxvel's main screen. For example, if its 2:50 pm in Oklahoma, and upcoming races include the 7th at Saratoga, the 8th at Monmouth, and the 4th at Calder, I would like to go there at a push of the button. You could even have a button next to the tracks you've downloaded and are playing called "what's next" and it would take you to a summary of the next races and posttimes. Just a thought (or rather a wish), because I already have screwed up a time or too toggling to another track only to spend 3 minutes handicapping the 1st at Arlington when the rest of the world is accurately handicapping the 7th. For what its worth, I missed the 1st at Arlington TWICE that day.(don't tell me you can teach an old dog new tricks:confused:.

I would like to see a way to "save your pace lines" on PL-0

I did alot of my pace lines at night and when I open the program the next morning, my picks were gone.

Another nice feature would be print to "file" as alot of times I would like to compare how it looks as I change my paceline.

The most important change that I would like to see is the quarter mile time in routes and the stretch call time in sprints. This information is in HTR, but not in MaxVel in either the top or bottom screens.

I think MaxVel is a great tool, but it's just unusable for me the way it is right now. What I like is the ability to quickly scroll through races and select pace lines. However, after I have selected a pace line the software adjusts the hell out of it and I don't even recognize that paceline anymore. (I know we have spoke of this privately, and I'm just reiterating.)

When using the PL-0 mode and selecting my own pacelines all I want is for that UNADJUSTED paceline to pop into the top screen. Then I can analyze the lines I selected for all of my contenders--whether it be one, two, or three lines per horse. Then with a click I can eliminate lines and be left with what I deem important. But they will be MY lines UNADJUSTED. If I want adjusted lines then I can use the "adjusted line mode."

Let's say I'm using the PL-5 mode. I would love to be able to examine those lines in the top screen unadjusted. Pipe dream? Probably, but you asked.

I have another software program that does what I want, but it doesn't have the same quality user interface that yours has. It doesn't have the ability to scroll quickly through the races, and it's missing quite a few of your other nice features. But with his software I can use unadjusted or adjusted pacelines and I can also color code or highlight pace lines, times etc. If I could figure out a way for you two guys to get together and combine programs I would have the best of both worlds. He can't (or won't) change his interface, and it would be way too much trouble for you to make yours do what I want. Bummer.

Thanks for listening

I need to amend this slightly. When I say I'd like to be able to select a pace line from the bottom screen and have it pop into the top screen that includes everything--especially the running position and beaten lengths. This way I can look at the fractional times, position and beaten lengths all in one line and then compare one horse to the other for the contenders I have selected.

The way things are now, because everything is adjusted, the top screen shows the adjusted fractional times as well as it's projected beaten lengths. What I would like to see is the entire line I selected in the bottom screen put into the top screen for every horse I entered.

I would also like to see the tandems somewhere on the MaxVel output screens.

I'm closing this thread and getting to work on the Maxvel update over the next several weeks.

Thanks very much for the ideas and suggestions. New version will be out around Nov 10 with the newsletter outlining the changes.
