Appreciate that JB!
and thanks for the accolades in the DRF and elsewhere
most people only notice the big score, but have no idea how much hard work, effort and frustration went into culminating those wins at the Gold Coast - you earned it

There is nothing that can be done to fix Microsoft OS issues from within HTR2.
95% of the HTR users with Vista have gotten the software to run on their computer. I have done everything i can to help the other 5% - but it looks like installing XP is the answer.

I really don't understand, what is going on.
I have found various fixes to the problem myself but none of which is working.
I can send you the laptop to see if you can fix this.
But it would be nice to discuss over the phone before we go that route.

Ken,
I hear you. I'm not fitting into the norm and 95% of your customers are ok. I can use a different laptop but I'm thinking you will eventually need to address this problem within HTR.

Vista has various security and administrator road blocks that need to be over come, i can't do anything about that in the Visual Basic code for HTR2 which is already a Microsoft product. So the answer is to find the right settings in Vista to allow it run.
Microsoft is making it difficult for outside software developers to run their software without a license from MS - that's what this is all about -- they want control.
Check my post in the HELP! thread, i was able to setup the latest version of HTR2 in Vista in about 10 minutes.

Ken is in the majority of software vendors here.
Check out the link below for an almost comical look at the carnage of Vista.

Most people using Vista effectively are turning off many of the security options that was supposed to set it apart from XP. Microsoft really tried to lock every door in the house with this release only to find that the people who owned the house also could not get in.
A better security system is not an advantage when you are trying to get into your own house!
Microsoft breaks their own rules when you need to run their stuff anyway!

PLEASE tell me manufactures will be making XP machines for years to come.
I have heard 25 negatives for every positive so far regarding Vista. :(

This may no longer apply but I believe Dell is selling their computers with the option of XP or Vista - not that I've heard great things about Dell's technical support lately either.

Just bought one last week w/XP home from powernotebooks.com. A rarety - the whole OS was an option! I only put windows on it to run HTR. :D
I'm sure MS will be the ones to determine how long XP is offered on new products and not the laptop mfgrs.
