Can you explain several parts to your successful play.

Why MLO 5-25 and MLO <>10
Also qfives

The ML = 10 was discussed in an earlier thread, my explanation was good, but read Dan's it is much better!

Qfives gives us a chance to look for "lone speed". I suspect many other pace handicappers will play a maiden who is lone speed. So using this factor helpes to increase the average mutuel.

Also, the field size is used to increase the average mutuel.

Remember, the sample was "cherry picked" as well. I would suggest you check out REP=1 in every Maiden Claiming race and find out what works for you. In a database you are "stuck" with all of the automatic pace-line choices OR you can choose pace-lines yourself.

I use to spend 2 hours or more on ONE ten race card choosing pace-lines. So the trade-off of using the automatic line selection is I can look at 10 tracks instead of one.

And the bonus is that I have seen many other automatic pace-line selection methods and I would put the PL-5 in HTR against any of them. There are some obvious misses, but that is part of a computer looking at numbers. Look at #7 Si Si Mamacita in the 6th today at Tampa. That was an adventurous call, so the ratings are over inflated greatly.

However, sometimes it does work out and those horses show up. Often I just use the scratch function and take them out before the race. If I could vote for any improvement in HTR it would be a contender flag.

Of course, then we would all have different ratings and then how could we have fun with these spot play contests?

I loved the "Backfit Cave" comment. :D

Now perhaps a better question is why didn't I use the $$ horses on the turf today! OUCH!
