View Full Version : Angles/plays with a gender bias

I've begun noticing that some of my Robot plays are showing a gender bias at certain tracks. For example, where a play returns "xx"wROI for tracks A-Z there are specific tracks where it succeeds greatly, those where it bombs, and those where the resuts are dramitically different depending on whether you were betting males or females.

Now I can grasp that a play will work at one track and will not work at another and to adjust accordingly...with confidence. How much confidence to you all place into a play that is showing mostly a gender-only bias?

Thanks,
Randy

good question Randy

My experience with Male vs. Female in test results is that it is highly volatile in the short run. Don't put too much stock in it unless you have a long term large data sample that continues to produce.

But there is no question that certain trainers do much better with one or the other. That can often be a hidden gem with trainer handicapping.

Statistically, over time, there is virtually no difference in the major ratings in HTR though. Run the LEARN ALL over almost any general sample and the male / famale results are usually pretty similar.

There have been volumes written about 3yr Fillies and the distaffers in general, claiming that they are less dependable because of the "ladies time of the month" and so on. This is nonsense and unproven statistically. (many pregnant mares have in fact raced and won)

Newsletter next month has an article on geldings. I found almost no perceptable performance differences between them and the non-gelded males or the females.

Randy,

Run the robot with your local riders and trainers and you may find a few nuggets like this…

Velasquez Cornelio H. (Approximately 18 months of data)

• Males: 211 / 1,416…15%...$0.79 ~ Females: 177 / 1,059…18%...$1.01

Taken a step further… (Eliminate maidens and mud >)

• Males: 136 / 888…15%...$0.82 ~ Females: 106 / 596…18%...$1.18

Long story short…“Corny” likes the ladies and the ladies seem to like Corny. ;)

Have you ever checked female trainers or Jockeys w/ female horses?

No Tomcat…I haven’t pursued that one specifically.

I wish I was an HTR customer when Julie Krone was in her prime. It would have been fascinating testing her career with all of Ken’s tools.

On that subject, I would like HTR files going way back…

I would love to see Ken’s ratings on Spectacular Bid ~ Big Red ~ Dr. Fager ~ Melair ~ Ruffian ~ Easy Goer vs. Sunday Silence etc…

I know Equibase seals the past like Grants tomb, but what a great history lesson the past would teach us using Ken’s 21st century tools.

Weak Aqu. card leaves too much time to dream…Maybe Ron can catch Equibase in a moment of weakness and sell files going back…let’s say…50 years!!!:D

Donnie,

Your wife is going to start getting jealous with all the time you and your "Maggi Moss" database are spending together.:D

BTW: Maggi is a real pistol…She just fired Contessa from her NY string and all reports are she was not ‘gentle about it.

Holy Schnikees....I hadn't considered (or known how) using the Robot for Connections testing. There goes the few hours each day I had budgeted for sleep!

Amazing stuff here.
