The Meadowlands meet opened tonight and going into a new meet there is always some uncertainty as to how a track will "play".

I think it has been something like 20 years since the Sartin people and other "experts" have said to look at the 3rd fraction and sustained pace on the turf.

I was astonished to catch a $1,000+ exacta in this race. Even more amazing is how "easy" it was to hit a $14,000 trifecta.

Open the 6th race and you be the judge. Let's simply look at the top 4 K, F3, and SP

Top 4 K

#5 Toka
#14 Exit
#3 Itsac
#6 Taken

Top 4 3rd fraction using default PL5
#7 Nombre
#5 Toka
#14 Exit
#6 Taken

Top 4 Sustained Pace
#5 Toka
#14 Exit
#7 Nombre
#6 Taken

It is also noteworthy that there are only 4 horses in the field with less than 50% PCT Early (7,5,14,6)

You can add any other bells and whistles you like, the meat was there for some IRS action.

HTR is good stuff, especially when the crowd is in love with Joe Bravo and Michael Dickinson. The 8-5 favorite was ranked #5 in K rating. And proved to confirm the HTR Vi rating of 17 for this race.

Great heads up Jersey,

My favorite turf meet of the year.

The course gets virtually zero use 11 months a year and is as thick as molasses. Any runner who sets a legitimate pace and holds well the first half of the meet is a horse to follow.

As you said…opening night three turf routes: ˝ mile pos of winners…9th, 6th and 8th.
