I have so many files in my ROBOT directory -- where I throw EVERYTHING in for the robot that it either takes several minutes to load or hangs.
I've got 512 MG RAM on my laptop and 384 and desktop and problems either way.
I've got May through present in there.
advice?

RAM is only part of the memory issue Hug.
The quality and speed of your hard drive may be the most important. But the computer's bus, cache and general mhz speed may also play a part. Also, the amount of over head running at the same time can slow things down, such as virus programs and Internet processes. Press <alt><cntrl><del> to see view the processes running with the Windows task manager if you have WindowsXP.
Normally, once you access a folder, the cache and RAM will hold the information and the next load should be much faster.
I have 365-day folder - about 60,000 racefiles including charts for each. It takes about 1.5 minutes to load the first time - but just a few seconds the second time.
