I am having problems with IE and wanted to remove the current version and put another one on my system, easy enough or so thought!! I went to add/remove program, windows component and checked IE and pressed ok, that did not work.
I went to windows explorer and tried to remove it manually and it said that IE is being used by another program or currently in use and does not let me remove it.
I tried to load the version that I downloaded but I get a message that there is a newer version already on my system. This "newer version" freezes when I open it.

Also, I have download the Avant browser and this works with youbet but the video window is minimized when I look at another screen. If anyone knows how to keep the window up all the time, this would save me the hassle of working with IE

Some of those might help.

I just did a Google search on "remove ie".

I have tried Opera, FireFox and Fast Browser.

Opera crashes too much on my computer. I like it though.

The other two are pretty stable for me.

I like the auto refresh of Fast Browser. I just don't need it very often.

I use IE for viewing the forum and for downloading files from HDW with Reget.

You can't un-install IE, can you?
I thought it was part of the OS, whicih is it's fatal flaw.

You do need it for certain website - YouBet for one. Bad news.
Another new security problemn with IE this week - MS says it is best addressed with a service pack rather than a patch, which means it will not address the issue for at least a year.

I switched to Firefox and could not be happier. A few things work differently, but you get used to it.

youbet is the only thing I use IE for. Advant browser works but the video screen becomes minimized when I go to other screens. I am even trying to reload IE but won't let me do it because it is detecting a newer version already installed.

Do a Google search for "repair ie".
