Hi Guys,
was fooling around the software and i found something interesting to me........let me tell you first how i start to handicap the races........i go to the htr con. and right down the top 3 K....POW.....HTR..... and then i go to pscan and right down the top 3 ..............what i find interresting is this...............lets go to PEN race 8 on may 3........in htr con,k ,pow you come up with 1-3-4 and p-scan you have 1-2-4 the odd horse is the 2.............what i'm finding when that occurs that the odd horse is running big and sometimes paying nice numbers..............not sure why.............. but it has happen a few times for me lately.............not sure if you can do any datebases figuring on this but i was wondering if anyone has notice this also or am i just nuts !!!!!!...............as always your guys and gals imput is always appreciated...................anyway its great to be back on board

Wizard...glad you are back. Suspect whats happening is you are seeing "current" form on the HTR con screen if using PL1. The pscan is looking at an average pace across most of last ten races. The "odd" horse on pscan represents some good "back-pace" from an animal that didn't show much in last race. Probably not a bad thing to check.
Can probably do a query on K, pow versus pscan rank to see if their is anything there. Will work on it over next couple days.

George,
thanks for the help .............i have been using the pl-5 mode when looking at the htr consensus screen.............not sure if that will help you on your search for results......thanks again............

All my db's are in either PL1 or manual PL's so can't do a run on PL5. Maybe someone else will take a shot at it. The PL5 kind of negates my earlier stated theory about "current" versus "back-pace".

Wizard;
I posted a similar question on the old discussion board.
The originator is listed as Ron-K.
It was posted on Sept. 28, 2000 and last modified on Oct. 1st 2000.
It can be found on page #23 with the topic titled "Odd Sox ala Pscan"
For convienience, I've attached my original post to this message.
If you want to see the replies and stats that everyone contributed,
they are still in the archives.
Here's the re-post:
=============
"I once read about an angle play called the Odd Sox system.
The idea was to use the Daily Racing Form and look at the top 3 consensus picks of all the selectors in any given race. (Sweep,Trackman etc.)
Next; look to see if there is a horses name listed in the top 3 picks by one of the selectors that is not among the top 3 picks of the other selectors.
This odd sox is the play.
There are times that the horse will either win at a decent price, or be in the money to complete a decent exotic.
--------------------------------------------
I've noticed through casual observation that this type of phenomenon
occurs every so many races in regards to some PSCAN top selections.
(and some 2nd picks as well)
The horse will not appear as a solid contender or be listed in the top 3 on the velocity line score screen or the consensus screen.
It will however be right on top or a strong second in the PSCAN screen.
This odd sox selection seems to win or hit the board at a decent % from what I've noticed so far.
Have any PSCAN followers noticed this or any variation of it?
Is it possible for the any of the Access fans to run a test on this niche query?
