When I boot up my computer each morning I get a message in the lower right corner of the monitor that says "Your computer may be at risk - Norton Internet Security is turned off"
Under options on my Norton Internet Security I have checked all the recommended boxes including one that says to turn on Norton Internet Security at start up.

Why do I keep getting this message? What do I have to do to stop getting it? Is there something else that has to be "turned on"?

Thanks.

You get the message because even though you have the virus protection software you data file of known viruses is out of date. Norton will be happy to provide you with updates to your virus file for an annual fee.

I use AVG free
here is a link to it
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1/lng/us/tpl/v5

The software is free and the software updates every day and the updates are free as well.

I have had it for many months now and no problems whatsoever.

I use AVG also.
IMHO: everything ran better after I uninstalled Norton. <e>

I have never had to trun it off either to download files or install software.

Another reason you may be getting this message is because of the load order of your programs....if Norton is the last to load, then the message may pop up before the anti-virus is completely loaded into the memory. Once the program is fully loaded you don't see this message any more. Be careful....you do not want to log onto the Net before your antivirus or your firewall are fully loaded! You may end up with a virus or an intrusion during the load time of your antivirus!

Thank you for the link. I will look into it. I have paid the annual fee and the first thing I do each morning is to run Live Update for the Norton Internet Security.

Thank you for the reply. How do I get Norton to load first or at least earlier in the process so I won't get the message?
