Transferring Pinnacle Data

All,

Trying to copy and paste Pinnacle data from their website into an Excel spreadsheet for some further analysis. No matter which paste option is chosen, the numbers show but they do not add up in the Sum and IfSum functions. Surely, I'm not the first to run into this?

Any suggestions?

Cliff I have done some cut and paste with pinnacle and have had the same problem.

I put the clear formatting button on my tool bar. I do a straight cut and paste and then I use the clear formatting button to clean out all the junk.

on your winning wagers you will notice that they are left aligned like text not right aligned like a number.

This is because there is a "space" in front of the number so excel thinks it is text. You have to delete the space and it will align right and excel math functions will work on it.

if you are using Office XP or 2003, when you go to paste, do a right click and choose Paste Special, then choose formulas and number formats. As soon as you paste there should be what's called a Smart Tag show up...a little button with an exclamation point inside of it. Should show up in the upper left corner of your pasted area. Click this button and choose Convet to Numbers. All done.

Can't seem to find the clear formatting button. Any guidance?

Can't find the formulas and numbers formats option when pasting. Using Office 2000 SR-1 Pro. Is that why?

Basically still stuck with the same old problem. Advice appreciated!

Under Excel03, locate the Clear Formatting button by clicking under Tools, Customize, Commands, Edit.

I forgot the clear formating button is not one of the standard buttons o the excel toolbar. Once you find it like Rick describes just drag and drop it on the tool bar.
