I've noticed a lot of longshots hit by the #2 TOTAL rank in impact. I was wondering if
anyone could run a querrie of #2 rank in total at odds of 7-1 and up. In this
querrie I also consider a horse 2nd if it is withing 1point of the second rank.

I've also noticed the Esp in impact has a better Roi in dirt routes. I'd also appreciate
I someone could do a querrie of Esp diff of 4 and up in CLAIMING dirt routes at odds
of 5-1 and up.

Hi Chris and welcome.

Here are sorta the two queries you were asking for. On the first, I just did a straight "2" for rTOT. Mike, Donny and the other smarties know how to do the "within one point stuff", I just muck through with whatever I got more or less. "Within one point of rank two TOT" would I think require a calculated field.

And it looks like you got "Some good, some bad".

It's all just History lessons anyway.

Carl you are right about being within a point of a the 2nd ranked total would be a hard one to program. In certain conditions you could have 2 or 3 qualifiers. Iam surprised you got so many qualifers at the 7-1 or better odds i would have thought that a r2 total would be routinly be less then 7-1.

Two factor query, you'd think I could get it right, and I didn't. This doing "queries between races and laundry" is tough.

The short is I screwed it up, don't even know what two factors I tested for now.

Here is the query re-visited. This time I did both halves (nODDS <7, nODDS >=7) to make sure they added up to the 38,000 races in the db.
