Anymore when I go to General Discussion and try and read the post, I never know if I can or cant. Sometimes i click on the post and bingo Im there but most of the time I have to wait and hope I dont time out before I get to the post. The only time I have this problem is when Im trying to read someones post. I use windows xp and have high speed internet connection Adelphia. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've had similar delays that improve when I delete my Temporary Internet Files daily or several times a day. Two plus sites are on all day, one of which is America Tab or YouBet...they fill up the cache quickly, I assume from the streaming odds updates. This may have some relevance to your situation.

Somethings wrong, but I hope whatever it is clears itself up before the Summer Tournament.

WELL Gambler: we have similar situation.
I just install Adelphia HIGH SPEED (aka BroadBand not DSL)
today I get PAGE NOT FOUND for DanG's post!!
with my 56K dial up, this NEVER happened!!!!!
this is from the Today's New Posts and I have read two other posts
then tried DanG's. That is, lot of accessing the Forum site and things
are (were) working
aaah MARK, you may have the right clue: delete Temp Internet files
Yes, I deleted WWW temp and I could read DanG's post.
aah, yes, I did a test, read KM's again then read DanG's next
and, it worked instead of failing.
SO, something with High Speed overloading the temp files.
I do not believe there is anything about Adelphia but that this will
happen with any High Speed.
Oh, my WWW temp limit is at 1193MB and I plan to increase it to
two gig but, expect this will just postpone the overflow problem.
-------------
but this is only another CLUE for what really causes the slow response
on the HTR forum site SOMETIMES!!

Let's just get to the bottom of it. That's all I'm saying!
From my perspective, this board is very similar to Pace Advantage except I almost never have problems in chat, in home page, in opening threads, etc., other there. :)
That being said, the HTR Forum is currently working perfectly well for me, I don't know if somethings been changed or not, I haven't changed anything. I can go to any other site and they all work, as they did before, and I hope eveything here continues to work as well as it now is.

I'm still/was having sporadic problems too. SLOW accessing of home page, SLOW searching for new posts. Sometimes won't get the home page to open at all.
Any new info since this subject was last discussed?

I agree. Ant other site I go to I have no problems. When I can access HTR, I can go to Pace Advantage have no problem.

I think our web provider must have moved us to another server as promised.
Things really started looking good yesterday.
Hope it holds up.
If not, I will be doing a search for a new web provider after the upcoming contest. If the slowness annoys the hell out of me during the contest I will be looking for something better based on what other vBulletin users are saying about the service they get.
I know I was getting annoyed and I am on a cable modem.

hi Rick,
here is a HUNCH: Locked record during updates
I noticed that my '..thread not found..' for the DanG thread
was found after I had tried some other threads.
When I read the thread, DanG had just posted an update
(..ie, here is the link)
so, my hunch is that the tread was locked for update.
so, does the Vbull.. software allow threads to be read
WHILE the thread is locked for update.
This is a data base issue about how the threads are maintained.
Some data bases allow records (threads) to be read without conditions
BUT, others will not allow anyone to even read a pending update
which would be ALL the time the person is using to compose and
update the REPLY to the thread.

I am still having a hard time accessing the message board most of the time. Sometimes it is OK, but most of the time it takes a long time or times out.

It has been pretty good for me lately. I am getting pages in about 4 seconds. But sometimes it takes much longer.
Sometimes it looks like it takes about 15 seconds for it to even find the site, then about 4 seconds to bring up the page after it does.
Sure nothing I would brag about.
This morning was pretty good.
This contest will be a pretty good gage for me.
Maybe we just need to delete this forum and start over from scratch. The db on this thing is over 40 mb and keeps growing.
I, for one, want to keep all the old messages.

I change from high speed cable to DSl and I still have a hard time getting a response. Most of the time I just give up. It is really becoming quite flustrating. i dont have a problem getting to any other location.

Ed your problem sounds worse then most of us are experiencing.
The problem for many is slow response and the response speed varies all over the place. If you cannot connect at all you may have a different problem.
I suggest that you contact your provider and have then do tests and see the they have the same problem you are having. They they can create a internet trouble report.
There may a trouble spot somewhere in the web that your provider is hitting when it tries to connect to the HTR web
