View Full Version : Pinnacle's "Race Is Closed" Failure to Accept ATR Wager

I am very upset with Pinnacle concerning its failure to accept an advance conditional win bet which was transmitted via ATR on program No. 5 (“Pirouetting”) in Race 2 at Woodbine today, 4/29/05. The 5 won paying $17.70 (that’s 7.85 to 1). The circumstances of my displeasure are the following: My good friend and fellow horseplayer and I both have the same picks and both play those picks day after day using the advance conditional betting feature of ATR in conjunction with the BRIS odds board to place bets at Pinnacle. We both had our machines set in exactly the same way -- to place our bets on the 5 at 3 minutes to post if the track odds met or exceeded the Kline on the 5 of 3.0417 to 1. Everything was identical except the amount of our wagers. Mine was $25, while his was $10. According to my friend who watched the odds board up until post time, the track odds on the 5 were never less than 5 to 1. At the exact same minute both his bet and mine were transmitted to Pinnacle by our computers. His bet was acknowledged as accepted by Pinnacle the very second it was transmitted, but my bet which was transmitted to Pinnacle at exactly the same time was rejected by Pinnacle the very second it was transmitted with the stated reason being that the “race is closed”. How can that be, especially in view of the fact that ATR was at the time cycling through only 2 tracks at most, PIM race 1, post time 1:10 p.m. EDT and WO race 2, post time 1:27 EDT. In my view, based on those facts, something is very rotten in Denmark, alias “Pinnacle” in this instance. Has anyone else experienced this or similar problems using ATR/BRIS/Pinnacle? Can anyone give me a rational explanation of why my buddy made a $78.50 profit while I lost $196.25 that I should have won? If so, I’d really like to hear it. Loss streaks are hard enough to endure without events such as this taking place which only serves to make the streak even that much longer.

Lee,
my ATR won't do anything right now, so I think something could be wrong with the interface.

Please take this the right way, I don't think Pinnacle per se is behind this, it's just not that much money to them.

Man,
I have had similar problems. Finally got to where it can't be less than 3 min to post. But I have still been locked out.
So far I have not been real happy with the performance using conditional bets in this way.
It's too bad because it is really what i am looking for. Hopefully it's something Gary can work out and it's not a Pinnacle issue. If it's Pinnacle there is likely nothing that can be done.

ATR is working again.
I don't think that Pinnacle is afraid of us, although they should be.

My first action would be to email-telephone-fax and in general question Pinnacle about what they say-know-can find out about what happened to this transaction.....
they may want to know that "they" as well as their customers are losing money by not allowing bets to go through.........
what they can do for you is limitless....VS....what we on this board can do to stop this from happening....
once they call you names and refuse to hear your story......then I would like to hear about it
and maybe cancel my account in protest with you......

Had the same problem with pinnacle yesterday, Tried to get a bet in on Hollywood, brisbet had the race at 3 min to post and pinnacle had 2 min and the bet came back as "race closed".
I emailed them and they said that sometimes they "lose connection" to their tote service and have to close the race to protect themselves. I've had problems in the past with their service, and 7% or no 7%, I'm moving my betting to something more reliable. Lets face it their wagering interface is the bare minimum needed to place a bet. I hope some decision maker on their end is reading these posts. I've complained in the past about other issues I've had and nothing really changes. Another frustrating thing is that there is no 800 number to call when you have problems. You have to rely on email.
Today, I tried to get a bet in on Kee 8th at 4 min to post. Got "race closed" tried it again and it took. Does not instill much confidence in their service.

The wagering interface is great if you are using ATR with Pinnacle. 7% is 7% and I have an ehorse account. Where else?

Not talking about what happened to Lee so much with the conditional bets, but more with the live bets. Sure there are problems and I want to know where to go that's better?
