HX4 Export

I would like to see some paceline factors in the next HX4 export upgrade. Mainly the track, surface and distance fields for the paceline mode selected. Having these fields exported to ACCESS would really aid in screening tournament plays. I use paceline mode 5 and I noticed in the last Suncoast Tournament that I had several possible plays turn out to be horses with pacelines from minor tracks, a different surface, or a significant distance change. I manually screened these horses but it took extra time. I realize in every day play these horses have to be evaluated on a horse by horse basis and can be a valuable source of longshots but in tournament play with a finite number tickets I feel more comfortable playing a 12-1 horse with similar paceline characteristics as today’s race than a 12-1 horse with a paceline from a minor track, a different surface, or a different distance with everything else being equal. Having these fields available would also allow back testing. My friends and I have always had a “gut” feeling that No. Calif. horses under perform when shipped to So. Calif. and being able to empirically test these factors easily (i.e. Do K1 horses with GG or BM selected pacelines win their fair share of races at SA, HOL, or DMR?) would be helpful. Feel free to comment but be gentle. :D

Jerry....I could be wrong, but aren't those fields in there? Or are you talking about multiple lines exported for one horse? (rather than one line per horse?)

Donnie-some last start fields are in the H4X export but not paceline fields. But you brought up the problem of some horses having two lines selected which I didn't think about.

Jerry, thanks for the suggestion. There will be a brand new HX export option in the October 5 upgrade for HTR2. I created it primarily for Pedigree evaluation with advice from McKEE, but I can add the Track, Dist, Surface, Class Type and SOR from the most recent PL chosen.

The new export will include name of Sire, Dam and Dam-Sire; age/sex of horse; State of breeding; PED rating; to allow invidual breeding evaulations from a single file. The first 20 or so data fields will be the same as HX4 for general information.

If you can merge the new file with HX4, let me know if having the PL info from the most recent selected line (only) would help you out. Don't want to get into the programming difficulty of multiple line selection though. This will only export the information from the most recent line chosen. If there is a second line chosen, it will ignore it in the export.

Ken--Adding most recent PL fields to the new HX export would really help. I'm sure Donnie, Mike Dee, and Rick can help me with the merge(hint, hint!). :D

'Kane - there will be no upgrade to the HX4 or 5. There will be a new HX7 with about 30 data fields, mostly focusing on Pedigree text items. You can export separately with the new one so it won't interfere with your other files.

I was going to suggest, I think that is what you are saying, another export rather than changing hx4. Maybe an export just ped and trainer info, but I like pl suggestion too, but having rebuild the hx4 is a chore.

Right Tom, the new export file concentrates on Pedigree by supplying the full Jockey Club names of =

Sire
Sire of Sire
Dam
Sire of Dam

The basic information such as dist/surf/class is included along with the finish position and odds so you can query a specific sire or dam for results in your db and find out more than the typical stats. For example, you could query for winners at CRC in FL-bred races only. Certain Florida stallions would stick out and hardly anyone else would have such statistics.
Full names of Trainer and Jockey are included in this file as well. That way you can use it as a stand-alone to query names in this smaller (less than 50 data fields) and more manageable export file.

Thanks to Mike McKee for his persistence at getting me to add this information. He originally asked for it in HX4 addition, but I thought a separate file would make things easier for everyone. I added the PL details last night (as requested by pagels) and the update will be available on Tuesday. MikeDee and Ricks are terrific beta-testers and they will verify the file contents before the program is released.
