If you are trying to set it just for one table, open database, go to Tools, Options, General and check Compact on Close.

I go to access icon on my destop---open an existing file--choose tools--customize--options--there is no compact and close there. What am I missing?

What are you trying to do?

Besides not follow directions?

No where did I mention customize.

You are trying to do something different??

Thanks Rick I folud the problem. When I single click on tools the only thing I got was customise. When i double clicked on it I got the option and was able to find compact.

Do you use Roxie CD Creator to save your info to a Cd

No. For some reason I never did like that program. Probably because the version that came with the cd burners was so crippled.

I use Nero to burn racefiles.

And several other programs depending on what I am trying to do.

One thing a lot of people may not realize....by single clicking in Windows programs you received the shortened version of the dropdown menus. There is a little arrow at the bottom of the list that allows you to see the rest. By double-clicking on the words at top, you find what Ed found by accident...the entire menu expands and you see everything without having to click the little arrow at the bottom. This can be turned off by right-clicking any toolbar and choosing customize. On the options tab, look at the first two options. Adjust accordingly.
