I revised my table definitions by removing the TEXT fields.
After doing COMPACT, the used space did not change.
so, I emptied (Delete ALL), compacted, and imported ALL again.
WELL, no change in the 80MB needed.
OK, I accept that Access 2.0 will use a two Kilobyte record size.
Since my data mine will have a LARGE record count,
I want to have each record be variable and NOT FIXED length chosen by Microsoft.
My questions:
A. does someone know how to tweak Access 2.0 to do ONLY USED SPACE.
aaah, yes, I tried the manual but gave up.
B. Does a later version of Access have the ONLY-USED-SPACE feature.
This could actually change my attitude about staying with 2.0 but conversion is such a hassle.
