I was not able to stay Wednesday night for the entire Access training. I have printed out the Access manual and I am trying to link 2 tables together.
I have one table from hx4 and one table for hx3. When I open a new query I only have one table show up in the new query. How do I get the hx3 table to link together with the hx4 table? In the manual it shays to put both tables in a new query, but I cannot get the hx3 table into the select query desing????
Each table is in a different db.
Thanks

Import your ALL_HX3 table into the database where your ALL_HX4 table is (or the other way around).
Open your query in design view. Right click in the upper area and select Show Table. Highlight the table you want to add and click add. Then click on close.
To link the two tables drag the fields from one list to the other list. I use the date, race, track and program # fields.
This will give you a query that will only be looking for the records that are in both tables.
This can be changed by right clicking on the line connecting the two fields and changing it to one of the two other options. Most of the time you don't want to do that but some times you need to to get the desired results.

As we said at the seminar, post a question here and you will get a quick reply!
And Rick gets a huge round of applause for being a great webmaster AND a quick-on-the-draw access reference! Wish ya coulda been there Rick. We have some hungry Access people out there!
