View Full Version : Exclude Races from a table?

Victor

From the All_HX4 table, I want to select a group of races which contain what I believe are bad favorites. I will then fire a few queries at ONLY these races and see what happens. Would I be building a new table from the ALL_HX4 table?

Thank you.

The basis query is called "bad favorites"
Select queries tab
Select new
New Queries
Design view
Add, Close
Here's where I am having trouble, if I move all the fields to the grid, and want to choose rF1=1, I get nothing because the original basis query (bad favorites) defined rF1>=5

I'd like to see how the rF1=1 does in my so called "bad favorite" races.

On second thought, I really don't think it will be as easy as I originally thought it would.

The only thing that comes to mind that might work is creating a query using your first query and your table together.

Try linking them together just using date, track and race.

The idea is that this will display all the horses in the races selected with your 1st query.

Give it a try and see what you can come up with.

I just tried it and it doen't work.

I just went back and looked at it and it will work. I just had to make sure the fields displayed were from the table and not from the query.

Now I need to go back and look at how to do the relationships.

Hope you are coming to the seminar, as this is one of the techniques that I will be covering on Wednesday.

Rick's method is the way to do it. First make a query with your false fav's and save it. Now make a new query with hx4 and link it to yoru query by only date track and race.

Here is the key you have to make the 3 lines that join your table and query point from the table to the query.

This wiil give you all of the horses in the races that match. You change the join type by double clickig on the line and you will get a pop up menu. to change the join type from only matching to alll records in the table and only matching in th query.

You must do this with each of the 3 join lines

Thank you Rick :D and Mike Dee

I'm taking a little break now and will be back to work on this later and try your suggestions.

I really do think there has to be something good here ($$$!)

I just did a test of the three choices in the join property.

I found that either leaving at the default or changing it to all the records in the query comes out the same.

Just do not change it to all the records in the table.

Victor you might want to try your "false fav" logic using rAODD ( the tote favorite). You may find that when the MLO fav is not one of the top HTR favs the public figures it out as well and makes another horse it's fav.

When I bet tris' I look for races where the "near post time fav" (you never are certain who the post time fav is in real time) is not the k1 or K2 or PSCN 1 or HTR 1. What I find is that in these situations the tote fav "out fo the money" finishes increases, and the tri payout can be substantial.

The problem is that in these races the normal HTR factors that win in the 30% range also drop quite a bit in win %, so it is a real challange configuring your tri ticket, but the rewards for getting it right can be huge.

Victor, if the betting favorite has a Mike or a Krat is <90, I think it has a good chance of being beat. You might want to test it.

Thanks Tomcat.

Don't think I'll be able to test the Mike # because I don't have an export for it, but I can test rAODD=1 and nKrat < 90

Look's promising in a "bad favorite" kind of way :)
