Need Printer Help

Ya'll,

I've been having a problem with my puter not recognizing that my printer is there. Every time I go to print, it tells me that the printer is out of paper (it isn't). Once I turn the printer off and then back on, the stuff prints, but not with any of the settings I had set up in control panel, i.e, in grayscale, ordered printing, etc.

I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Any other suggestions?

What kind of printer?

It's a HP Deskjet 610CL hooked to my HP Pavilion XE783. The last few times this happened, I just uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. That didn't work this time.

I didn't see anything that looked like your problem there.

Might check for later software and/or drivers for your version of Windows.

Try another cable?
Have had same kind of trouble in past and it went away when I changed printer cables.

Thanks Guys,

Did aforementioned reinstall of drivers straight from their web site as opposed to using the copy I have on my hard drive. That appeared to work.

Not sure why this keeps happening. Will consider the printer cable next time.
