ATR Version 2.01 and a new ATR Help Manual are now available. Version upgrades are free to registered users.
V2.01 available at: http://homebased2.com/atr/at_the_races.htm
Help Manual available at: http://homebased2.com/atr/atr_docs.htm
New ATR features include:
1) Graphical versions of all information shown on the Odds Screen is now available. Includes new displays of Win / Show and Win / Morning Line. Graphs include options to remove horses from display and adjust plot limits.

These screen captures can be made even if ATR has been minimized (ATR will pop up for captures and then return to taskbar). Files can be saved in ‘png’ format (in addition to ‘bmp’), saving considerable disk space.
3) New easier navigation between display on the ODDS Screen. Now switch between 10 different displays with one click of the mouse.
4) New display of Win/Show using BTM or tote odds on the Odds Screen.
5) New capabilities added to Copy Button including option to save image of ATR screen to file in ‘png’ or ‘bmp’ format in addition to capability to print or to just put image in Windows Clipboard.
6) Kelly Criterion win bet calculation.
7) Better ‘track matching’ for importing of Morning Line odds including matching of abbreviations (i.e. DMR).
8) New options added to customize screen displays and links to the on-line help manual.

ATR Version 2.12 and a revised ATR Manual are now available for download at: http://homebased2.com/atr/at_the_races.htm
New features of ATR:
(1) With the introduction of the “Look-Back Line”, ATR now provides a unique tool to predict closing odds. The “Look-Back Line” values are calculated from the daily double pool and are an estimate of the win odds of the horses in the second part of daily double races. The “Look-Back Line” is displayed on the Double Screen when the race is the first half of a daily double and on the WPS Screen when a race is the second half of a daily double.
The power of the “Look-Back Line” may be most significant after the first half of the double is official, as that double pool is closed and is no longer subject to fluctuations due to late money. These “Look-Back Line” values are often better at predicting the final win odds in the second half of the double than the Morning Line and are consistently better than the early win betting odds. The “Look-Back Line” can provide a significant advantage for people who create their own odds-line in determining possible value plays in the upcoming race.
ATR screens for a recent race at Hollywood Park when the “Look-Back Line” proved to be a good predictor are available at the following links:
Win prices and “Look-Back Line” values at 22 minutes to post: http://www.homebased2.com/atr/Images/HollywoodPark_WPSat22mtp_4_23_03_race_7.png
Win prices at OFF: http://www.homebased2.com/atr/Images/HollywoodPark_WPSatOff_4_23_03_race_7.png
Win odds at OFF and Morning Line odds: http://www.homebased2.com/atr/Images/HollywoodPark_ODDSatOff_4_23_03_race_7.png
Early experience with the “Look-Back Line” has shown an unexpected use -- those times that the late win pool in the second half of the double significantly differs from the “Look-Back Line” may provide indication of “smart money” plays. That is, a horse that has an $8 “Look-Back Line” value is now showing a near post-time payoff of $5 could very well indicate insider money because he was not bet this way in the daily double.
(2) Introduction of the Chinese Double Form. The “Chinese Double” betting strategy has been around for many years - picking contenders as those horses with the lowest values calculated by dividing the daily double payoffs by the Morning Lines of the horses in the second half of the double. The Chinese Double Form can be automatically generated and saved for later study using the Automatic Screen Image Capture utility built into ATR.
An image of the Chinese Double Form is available at the following link:

Additional documentation for these new features are provided on slides 65-72 of the ATR on-line user manual available at: http://homebased2.com/atr/atr_docs.htm

I wouldn't mind taking another look at this program, but since I installed and uninstalled when it first came out my computer still thinks I need to register to use the latest trial download.

At The Races will not be able to display the Kentucky Derby tote data this year. ATR screens are set up to handle a maximum of 14 betting entries and this years Derby now has 17. Sorry for any problems this may cause.
ATRpro has the same ‘glitch’ but will be able to export the Kentucky Derby tote data to other software.
The good news is that the Derby is one of the few, if not the only race in the USA that has had more than 14 race time betting entries, and plans are to upgrade ATR to handle fields up to 20 horses. Note that ATR can handle horse program numbers higher than 14, just not more than 14 total horses – so if there are three late Derby scratches, ATR will work.

What is the difference between Atr and AtrPro?

ATRpro can continuously export tote data to files that can be used in real-time by other software. This feature has been implemented for use by both commercial handicapping software and for private use. Otherwise, ATR and ATRpro have the same features.

so....how would that be used by HTR or do you have other software in mind?

HTR could use the tote data similar to how it is currently used by other software: ATRpro is started up and run in the background (minimized to the task bar) with the tote data continuously being written to data files. HTR2001 could then import the data to display the current odds inside HTR2001 next to the handicapping information and use the data to identify value plays and/or dead plays.

Sounds awesome Gary. Please send me a copy of the ATRPro. Are the files in text delimited format or binary? Do you have a file spec for the exported data? Send me everything I need to implement into HTR and I'll make a run at it - thanks.

Ken - I think ATR PRO would be a great addition to the HTR2001. For a value player like myself it would allow a much clearer view of the overlays and underlays which could be continually updated on the tote screen just by clicking a button. There should be a horse's winning percentage based on the HTR program and the $NET plus or minus that one would expect from betting on this horse. There should also be a way to eliminate horses that you dont consider to be contenders therefore allowing the user to change the entire odds line. It would also allow you to smooth the odds line in your program based on actual tote data that I think would make your very accurate odds line even more so. Finally it would just make HTR much more fun to use in real time. In my opinion this would be a huge improvement in your terrific program.
