$5000 entry fee - peanuts for a $70,000 1st prize?! Odds for the winner only = 13/1.
Finish 2nd and get 3/1 on your money and finish 3rd and get even money. Yuk!

The Orleans 1st prize will be over $100,000 for a $500 entry fee.
Odds for winner at least 200/1. Odds for finishing 10th are 13/1 at the Orleans.
Finish 60th and get better than even money.

A similar contest was canceled last year at the MGM, its fee was $3500.

lets see...remedial math class....30 x 5000 = 150,000. 150,000 - 100,000 prize money = 50,000. 50,000/150000 = .30.

pretty hefty takeout on this puppy. Maybe I should have one of these. The hurrikane open. You all go ahead and send the check..I'll start setting things up. :D :D

Looks like to me the "potential" payout columns at the bottom are out of alignment. Here's the way I was reading it, possibly in error:

I have the brochure right here - it is $70,000 to the overall winner (assuming 30 entries).

If you add the daily prizes and the three overall prizes, total = $150,000 in prize money.
So they are paying back 100% of the entry fees.

Not a good deal for a $5000 bet in any case. Probably should have made this a winner-take- all.
