Welcome,
I can tell just by looking at the message entry box that I will want to TRY!! to make some changes but I don't know if they will all work.

Yall have really given me a new hobby that might just be fun, and then again it may not.

Just register and post. There is no email verification or any of that. There is an option for you to be notified by email if someone replies to one of your post. At least that is an option when you post a message. I haven't had a chance to check to see if it works yet, so I will test it with this message.

I have already noticed that some of the gifs are not being displayed. I will check them out. Some I don't like and will have to replace them.

A tread on the vBulletin forum says that their spell checker is web based on a site that is changing over to pay for spell checking. They presently have a poll going on to see what they should do about it. Some of their options are drop it, pay for it, or do their own.

Welcome,
Ricks

PS I am doing a test of the attachment option. I read somewhere that if you Preview Post you had better check your attachment before submitting. I am also going to check their spell check. I just tried their spell check and it leaves a lot to be desired. It just flags but doesn't fix.

When doing reply you don't have to post a subject, but you can post your own.

I am just testing out how the background shade changes between post.

PS: I did a preview on first post and the attachment disappeared. Also, it doesn't do any good to double space like I just tried to do after the PS:

Rick have been fooling around with the new software.

Couple of question on replies.

Can the reply box be expand to as wide as possible to get the best view of how your reply will look without previewing?

regarding attachments. I noticed that the list of allowable extensions does not include excel access or word, can they be aded?

tried to paste in a formatted column output from spreadsheet. the new software handles the same way as the old:( . Is there an easy way to paste in text in columns.

I noitced that I can save a spread sheet as HMTL. Would there be a way to save a spreadsheet range as hmtl and paste it in a message and have vb accept it and the formatting?

MikeDee,
I plan on trying to expand the reply box. I don't know if it can be made adjustable but I plan on trying to make it at least making it 800x600. Right now you are better of using the Preview Reply and then going back and adding any attachments.

I'll add rtf for Word. The doc format has too many variations. I will try using mdb and xls even though they are probably better attached as zip.

To insert formatted columns try using the code of CODE, for example:
[ code ] without the spaces
Track LS% AvgWin
FMT 23.95% $37.75
CD 22.41% $36.68
HOU 23.04% $35.22
MNR 22.33% $36.10
SUN 23.11% $34.76
LAD 20.48% $39.08 [ /code ]

There is a security (of the server) concern of allowing html code within the messages. Turning on html is an option but not recommended. If it is something too wide for the screen, the program inserts scroll bars. I would probably try a rtf format if I had something that wouldn't work the way I wanted it too under code.

I finally received an email this morning telling me that you had posted a reply to my original message. That is way too slow. I also noticed that the time shows GMT even though it should adjust.

Let me know if you think we need any more extensions besides mdb, xls, and rtf.

Ricks

PS I wish the Spell Check in vBulletin would work near as well as Spell Magic. Of course that is just for the few of us that needs it.

thanks Rick

I'll change my default for rtf from explorer to word and that will work. Agree with you on the mdb thing, perhaps best not to include it.

for spreadsheets it is very easy to export a query to excel and then attach it to a message. I think it will be a real nice way to share access analysis.

If you are concerned about size perhaps you could put a size limitation on attachments

the code thing looks good and does not seem to be to hard to do, I'll try it.

spell check is not ideal but is sure better then none, especially for someone like me
