This poll stuff is fun. Now if I could only get someone to respond to one it might make it more fun....

Looks like VBoard gremlins got ahold of the original post and turned the screens "<x>" into techno jargin verbage print code...

Good question Glen! Did I miss the part about Access printouts?? hehe

I would have to quantify my vote tho, in that I would take the Prat printouts if I could have them modified with other info instead of stuff like "weight" and other useless info!!

Yeah, I had better try to get your money back.

I was going to let you fix the poll but I saw the message that said only I could do it. What a crummy program making me do all the work.

I tried to add a 't' to the title but again, the program wouldn't let me.

Good point Donnie. Wanted to include TCL, Tomcat, Access Printouts, Stardust, and Comprehensive Trainer Sheet but Poll will only accept up to 10 so thought it would be best to stick the above. Looks like Impact is taking the lead. For general handicapping, gimmie P-Scan or TLC....but but if I had to make a living off a single program, gimmie the Impactor. BTW, you are a fan of PRAT. PRAT 2 right? Just curious what you like better about Prat2 vs Prat1.
Thanks,
Glen

Yeah...am a big fan of Prat 2. I like to look at the little numbers more-so than the large Cramer numbers. Gives a better "feel" to the cycling of horses, especially 3 year olds. I think for me it is just intuitive to see the numbers go from small to large, left to right. Also looked closely at Sheets at one point and got used to see all those small numbers. I have a modification on Prat 2 I would like to have Ken do, but I know right now he is real busy anyway, so I will wait.

Look at the Prat 2 for the Derby contenders...some real pretenders in there, but also quite a few real contenders!

Best of luck!

Really should have included the TLC report. It's the only one I print and use at the track, errr, well not the track but at Bradely Teletheater. Usually print out 10 tracks for the days I attend and find TLC the best for me.

Carl,

I agree. TLC would of been a runaway winner in this poll since it has components from all of the above. I must say I am somewhat surprised that no one selected HTR Consensus and 4 folks selected Velocity and Projected Times. Interesting for sure...Some true pace cappers here on this board...Good to hear.

Just curious, would like to hear what the Velocity and Projected Times people look for in their capping...
Is it score?
Final Time?
Ev/EP Advantage?
AP Advantage?
Big advantage in one of the F1,F2,F3?
Turn Time?
F3?
All or none of the above...?

Thanks,
Glen

Glen......am one of the voters for screen one. Was a hard choice. What I really use it for is
confirmation of something in impact. But if I can have only one report can deduce the
impact info from the data on screen one.

Am primarily interested in final time. Also check score(VEL) and f1,f2,f3 rankings.

Although I play early speed from impact what I am looking for on screen one is
the deep closer who can run him down. If enough of the data shows the closer
with a good chance I often dutch him with the early speed horse.

Glen;

I'm primarily a pace\velocity capper as well. I also voted for the velocity and projected times screen as my first pick, however I do use other readouts to supplement the info. that the velocity screen does not have on it.

I use everything on your list, but pay the least attention to AP advantage and pay no attention at all to score.

I feel there's both an art and science to reading and interpreting the FPS velocity figures.
There's a definate learning curve one has to go through to acquire the skill and intuition needed to become proficient at making lucrative decisions with them.

Not a good readout for the person looking for the "black box " approach to racing.

I find the FPS figures not only allert me to some good betting opportunities, but they also
point out a lot of races to stay away from. That has saved me a lot of money.

I'm suprised that there are so few people posting and discussing this niche of HTR or using
the FPS figures in general.
My guess is that some may have found other readouts either more financially rewarding, more user friendly or less time consuming?

How about the other voters? How about the non-voters and lurkers ?
What do you feel your readout of preference has that is superior to the FPS velocity screen in pointing out some good priced winners? OR...makes you aware that a race is to tough to beat so you can save your sheckles and wait for the next good wagering opportunity?

Comments please.

My vote is screen 5. While I'd as soon be caught at the track w/o a DRF as w/o a shirt, I like the pace numbers we have in screen 5. You can work out changes in pace scenario after scratches from screen 5 that might not be as evident in other printouts.

Good point Neil. Those pace numbers make our PP superior in my opinion. Took me a while to get used to it but now I wouldn't take a BRIS or DRF PP over HTR Quirin style PP. Using the Print to File PP is real nice w/ the comments and jockey info...

Glen,
In this upgrade to vBulletin they said they fixed the poll to where the codes work.

Do you think the maximun # of selections in the polls needs to be increased?

Cool Rick. 10 sounds plenty to me...

Glen,

I cannot find the "Print to File PP" option that you referred to a couple of posts back. Can you give me some guidance?

Also, is there a "Help" text for the past performances printout somewhere? As you all know, it is somewhat different than the DRF and I am having a hard time deciphering some of the numbers.

On the same topic.....Can you force the pages to print in order as opposed to reverse order where you have to sort them by hand? I have my printer set on "ordered" printing, but, that doesn't seem to do the trick.

Thanks all,
Cliff

Cliff,

The Print to File program can be downloaded here
http://www.homebased2.com/km/dnl/htrptf.exe

Using the P2File program will create a separate .txt file in the C/HTR folder. Just dig it out and copy and paste it to your main word processer. I assume you will using WORD. Once you copy and paste it you will have to change the font size to "8" and the font to "Courier New". To make it look pretty you will also have to adjust the borders. If you need more help on this let me know and I will give more step by step details. Mabye someone else might know of an easier way but the above mentioned way is he only way I know how to do it.

Thanks Glen,

I had downloaded it and just didn't remember. Tinkered around with it some yesterday and really like it. Unfortunately, it did not help me handicap Lone Star any better!
