REDDY.......Aside from all the new theme stuff for family's there are traditional side trips to Boulder Dam and Lake Mead. People on the sidewalks all over town willing to sell you a tour.
Better to rent a car and go do it yourself.
A neat area I visited once is the town of PAHRUMP. Nothing really there other than retirees but met some nice people and played some golf. Lots of strange little towns around like Bullfrog City. Just grab a car and go tour the countryside.

I hear there are some nice ranches in Sparks, NV. True, the Hoover is a wonderful site. No need to worry about lack of things to do in Vegas. A buffet of fun...

Ronny, forget about leaving the strip - there is a million things to see on the Blvd 24 hours a day. If hell is anything like Vegas - God forgive me, but I want to go there when I die.
If you are arriving on Thursday night at the Stardust - we'll meet in the racebook about 8pm for a beer and some horse rap. There might be some late action on the board.
On Friday, we'll be in and out of the racebook all day playing the horses and talking tech.
You can stroll by the HTR seminar conference room starting around 6pm and get your buffet dinner by 6:30 I'll be doing some intros and awards at 7, then TomCat takes the stage at 8pm. My sermon starts after 9 o clock break.
In the Stardust Racebook = the HTR group section is in the right rear corner as you face the big screens. Look for a row of laptops and people tripping over wires back there - you'll know you are in the right place.

Win a photo, lose a photo.
Turns out I'm getting shut out of the Vegas HTR Convention at the last minute, combination of W***, family and airline stupidity.
Dumbest thing is I am going to be in Vegas next week anyway for W***, I just can't get there anyway I can see before Sunday night (I've been trying guys, been trying. And it's been trying too. Unbelievable goofiness. On again, off again stupid cr*p.)
So.....
1) If anybody is still around I will stop by the Stardust Race Book Sunday night to say hello.
2) And if anybody is going to still be in town, please post and let me know. If you could get an extra copy of the handouts for me would be super.
Bummer for me, should be a GREAT convention for those going. I totally enjoyed last year's. (And sometimes what is meant to be is what is meant to be.)
Have fun guys, I'll catch the late DD and catch up with the stayers!

Will arrive at the airport at 6:30 pm thur (assuming no delay out of San Francisco) Should be at the Stardust by 8:pm (maybe before, but not much)
Carl:
Leaving town around noon on Mon, so I will still be around Sun night.
In years passed some of those still in town get togather for dinner on Sun night. look forward to seeing you again if only to talk about horseracing and horseplayers (anyone not present in the racebook Sun night is fair game......when we run out of horseplayers there is always the airlines and W**K)

Thanks guys. Looks like I will certainly find some of you degenerates around still, great!
My "da plane da plane" theorically touches down at Vegas 4:50 pm. Will head for Stardust then, will look first for the group in the back right corner playing "the unofficial HTR longshot track" MNR.
Ernie, if Sunday night dinner plans go organized (before the last minute by some miracle) and you get a chance post and let me know where/when, I'll check that locale out too in case you guys have already made your bucks for the day and don't need any help from MNR. Hehe. (I never miss a night of MNR if I can help it. Big fields and bad horses. Does it get any better?)
See Ya!

Guys,
Good luck in Vegas, and, hope you learn alot. Some of us have to stay home and keep Tommy C. honest in the Lone Star tourney!
For those of you needing something to do.....you might try The Steakhouse in Circus Circus or the Beef and Baron in the Flamingo Hilton. I'm assuming they're still there (it's been 5 years). Pretty nice meals (read expensive) and even would impress dates, girlfriends, and/or wives.
Those interested in more relaxed entertainment might try the Palomino Club. It would take a cab ride from the Stardust, but, well worth the trip (at least it used to be). BTW, I've only heard about it.....never been there personally.
